IMPORTANT NOTES
---------------
To see the documentation, open index.htm in your web browser.
The RealSystem G2 SDK includes cross-platform Documentation, Header Files,
Samples, and Test Files. Full sample makefiles are provided for all platforms
that RealSystem G2 versions of the RealPlayer or RealServer G2 ship on.
The RealSystem G2 SDK no longer includes any platform specific libraries;
instead, you can simply download the applicable RealServer and
RealPlayer installers from http://www.realnetworks.com/products/.
Improved Documentation:
-----------------------
The SDK documentation has been greatly expanded, and now includes an
extended series of appendicies as well as updates within the
pre-existing portions of the SDK. Please see the "Release Notes"
section of the SDK Documentation for more information.
New Samples:
------------
The following new samples have been introduced in this version of the SDK -
a) an example data converter (in samples\intro\converter).
b) an example data reverter (in samples\intro\reverter).
*** Important Notes for these samples ***
- RealSystem Compatibility: These samples require the following
minimum RealSystem component versions:
* RealServer 8
* RealPlayer 8 Beta 1
* Unix RealPlayer 7 Beta 2
- RealPlayer 8 Beta 1: There are known issues with the RealPlayer 8 Beta 1
product release when used with these new samples. Specifically, there are
problems when attempting to "revert" SMIL content or "revert" content
delivered via HTTP Cloaking (ie RTSP-via-HTTP or PNM-via-HTTP). These
problems are resolved in later versions of the RealPlayer 8 product.
Deleted Sample:
---------------
a) (samples\advanced\encrypt): With the addition of the converter and reverter
samples, the former "encryption" sample is no longer necessary and has now been
removed.
Illustrative Samples:
---------------------
The following samples are provided for illustrative purposes, but currently
are fully functional only on the Win32 platform; these samples will be built-out
to provide full funtionality on all platforms in the next SDK release:
* \samples\intermed\winhdrs
* \samples\advanced\exwlsite
Testplay Sample on the Macinosh
-------------------------
After building this sample it is recommended that you change the default memory
partition for the resulting application. It is recommended that you allocate at
least 4MB RAM; complex SMIL presentations can require an even larger memory
allocation.
